VIEW-ONCE IMAGE

Show the image once.
Then the link closes.

Send an image or a video with a link that can be opened only once. When the open limit is reached the link closes and the file is removed from the server. No account needed; you can also pick a limit of 5 or 25 opens.

How long should the link stay open?
How many times can the link be opened?

Only real people opening the link count; link previews from apps like WhatsApp and Telegram do not. The link closes when the limit is reached. Reloading the page counts as a new open, so do not open the link yourself. The server only keeps the number of opens. Direct links and forum code are not available for limited files.

Who can see it?
Photo size

For JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC photos; GIFs and videos are not changed. The link shows the smaller copy, which is saved again and so carries no location or camera data. The original file is also sent to our server, and only the site administrator can view it.

The file is stored on our server and deleted automatically when the time you choose runs out. Files are shared as is: their EXIF data and metadata (including location) are not changed. The exception: HEIC photos, and photos made smaller with "Make large photos smaller", are saved again in your browser; the link shows that new copy, which carries no EXIF, location or camera data. In that case the original file, with its metadata (location included), is also sent to our server and kept next to the upload: it is never shown through the link, only the site administrator can view it, and it is deleted together with the upload (after the time you chose runs out or you delete it, at the end of the 24-hour review window every deleted file has). Remove the location first with EXIF Scanner.

How exactly is an open counted?

A person opening the link in a browser is one open. The preview that apps like WhatsApp, Telegram and Slack build when you paste the link does not count; search engine bots, HEAD requests and command-line tools do not count either. Those requests never receive the file itself, and a preview shows only a generic cover image.

While one open loads the image or video, the page does not count again: it uses a short-lived signed ticket tied to that open (15 minutes for images, 2 hours for videos). Reloading the page is a new open.

What happens when the limit is reached?

New opens are refused with "This link has reached its open limit". The page of the person who made the last open keeps working for the length of the ticket so it can load the file; then the file moves to the admin trash, stays there for 24 hours for abuse review, and is deleted from the server for good. An admin cannot restore it.

For password-protected links an open counts after the correct password is entered; seeing the password screen is not an open.

What it cannot prevent

View once cannot stop the person who sees the file from taking a screenshot or downloading it; it only makes the link stop opening. Do not open the link yourself: you would use up the open meant for the person you are sending it to.

Frequently asked questions

How do I send a view-once image?

Choose the image, keep "View once" selected under "How many times can the link be opened?" and upload. Send the share link you get; it closes as soon as the first person has opened it. You can also send it with the QR code or your phone's Share button.

Does pasting the link into a messaging app count as an open?

No. Link previews from apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Slack and Discord do not count and those apps do not receive the file; a preview shows a generic cover image. Only a person opening the link in a browser counts.

What happens if I reload the page?

Reloading counts as a new open; on a view-once link that means the link has closed. While the page is open it does not count again when it loads the image, so the image shows completely. If you want to keep it, use the Download button during that last open.

Can the recipient take a screenshot?

Yes. View once makes the link single-use, but it cannot stop the person who sees the image from taking a screenshot or downloading it. For very sensitive content, add a password too and share only with people you trust.

Where does the file stay after the limit is reached?

New opens are refused at once. After a short viewing window the file moves to the admin trash, stays there for 24 hours for abuse review, and is then deleted from the server for good. Neither the uploader nor an admin can bring it back.

Can view once be combined with a password?

Yes. For password-protected links an open counts after the correct password is entered; seeing the password screen or typing a wrong password is not an open. The server keeps the open limit only as a counter and does not record who opened it.
